Leading good autism practice

Date: 26th February 2019

Location: Kimberworth Place - SEND Hub

Time: 9:00 - 15:00

Meet lead practitioners from a range of organisations to discuss, share and develop practice. Prepare your school for Ofsted inspections.

Rotherham is now a registered Autism Education Trust Training Hub

The Inclusion Support Service, along with the Educational Psychology Service and The Portage Service are now able to offer Rotherham schools this government approved, licenced and evidence-based training.

The AET programme focusses on autism as a difference, not a deficit. It puts the child and young person at the heart of the process. It is their voice that is heard through the training. Over 190,000 education staff have been trained across England by the AET programme since 2012.

Who is the training for?

For staff who may lead or train other staff in their settings, taking a leadership role with a responsibility for developing provision.

  • Deputy/assistant heads teachers
  • Sencos
  • Teachers
  • Teaching assistants
  • Senior management

Cost: £150 per person

Rotherham Autism Family Support Teen Life Programme – March/April 2019

Date: 7th March 2019 - 11th April 2019

Every week

Location: Kimberworth Place - SEND Hub

Time: 10:00 - 12:00

The course is for parents of a young person who has a diagnosis of autism and is between 10 – 16 years old.

You will need to attend all 6 sessions

Topics included in the programme are: Understanding Autism, Women and Girls with Autism (note that boys and males can also fit this profile), autistic perspectives, Self-esteem, Spending time with other people, Stress and anxiety, Understanding behaviour, Understanding your diagnosis, Special interests, Managing expectations, Puberty, Independence skills, Education, Planning for the future.

Your place(s) will only be secured when we have received your form and your payment, and places are allocated to families on a first come first served basis. The £25 per person fee can be made by cheque (made payable to RMBC), which can be returned with your completed application form via post to the following address:

There are only a limited amount of spaces so please call or email before sending money.

Gain practical knowledge, and discover hands-on tools and techniques to support pupils with autism in your setting.
